Iran has made a notable statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz transit fees. The country’s central bank announced that the first transit fee collected from ships passing through the strait will be paid in “cash foreign currency”.
The Central Bank of Iran announced that the payments were deposited directly into bank accounts in foreign currency. The statement follows previous allegations that tolls were being collected in cryptocurrencies.
Earlier, Iranian Islamic Parliament Vice-President Haji Babae also confirmed in a statement that the first payments had been received and transferred to the central bank account.
