Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, said: claimed Blockchain has the potential to become the underlying operating system for the entire planet.
In a recent video broadcast, Hoskinson claimed that Cardano’s ultimate mission is to solve the multi-trillion dollar global trust crisis.
Hoskinson argued that the main problem plaguing modern society and global trade is its dependence on centralized institutions.
“The cost of establishing trust on a global scale is in the hundreds of billions of dollars in well-regulated financial markets alone,” Hoskinson explained. “Our industry-wide goal is to reduce or eliminate all of these third parties globally.”
Why only Cardano can succeed
According to Hoskinson, Cardano is the only network that has the architecture needed to accomplish this on a global scale.
He cites the Ouroboros consensus protocol, the extended UTXO accounting model, the modularity of partner chains such as Midnight, and the decentralized governance structure as four core pillars that make the network completely unique.
“When you put these four things together, there is currently no cryptocurrency with these characteristics,” Hoskinson declared. “It’s just a fact. We’re very unique in all of this.”
He harshly criticized competing blockchain networks for sacrificing decentralization in favor of speed.
“If you look at our competitors, we play a different game than they do. That’s why we win,” he asserted. “They’re chasing the flavor of the week, the company of the week, the announcements of the week. And we want to change the world. We want the world to be a better place.”
Beyond TVL
Ultimately, Hoskinson urged the Cardano community to stop focusing solely on metrics such as Total Value Locked (TVL) and short-term token prices.
“If we can solve this problem, we can not only create a lot of economic value, make billions of dollars, congratulations, tokens go up, but more importantly, create world peace,” Hoskinson said. “Because once we can trust each other again, we will listen to each other. And once we listen to each other, we will understand that the people on the other side of the aisle are not the enemy.”
