IG expands UK crypto access after FCA registration
London-based trading platform IG announced on May 13 that it is expanding its UK cryptocurrency offering by adding more than 50 digital assets. This update expands the range of available crypto assets to over 100 assets, adds swap functionality, upgraded charting tools, and planned wallet transfer support for customers.
This expansion follows the company securing Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) crypto asset registration in October 2025. UK customers can now access a wider choice of cryptocurrencies through licensed crypto products. This rollout also introduced a swap feature, allowing customers to directly exchange one cryptocurrency for another. Previously, purchases of cryptocurrencies could only be made using fiat currency. The platform includes enhanced charting features such as line graphs and candlestick graphs, along with technical indicators and annotations for market analysis. The addition expands the company’s cryptocurrency trading capabilities as competition intensifies among UK-regulated digital asset platforms.
IG says:
“After securing FCA crypto asset registration in October 2025, IG has added over 50 cryptocurrencies to its offering, increasing the total number available to over 100.”
Wallet transfer support allows customers to later move their external crypto asset holdings into the same account used for other products such as contracts for difference (CFDs) and spread bets.
Crypto wallet transfers expand multi-asset access
Expanded functionality takes the platform beyond basic cryptocurrency access by combining trading, technical analysis, and portfolio management tools within one investment environment. Direct crypto exchange eliminates the need for additional conversion steps for users to rotate between digital assets, and upgraded charting functionality supports more advanced market monitoring.
The IG outlined:
“In the coming weeks, IG will be introducing crypto transfers and remittances, allowing customers to move their existing holdings from external wallets to the IG platform.”
Matt Perkins, Product Director at IG, explained that the expansion is part of the company’s commitment to building a more complete and trusted crypto investing experience for UK customers. He also pointed to advanced trading features and integrated wallet transfers as part of a broader effort to bring digital assets into the existing multi-product investment ecosystem.
