The unconfirmed report is circulating online that Jeffy Yu, founder of the small Crypto project Zerebro, may have taken his life on May 4th in a live stream of Pump.
The video circulating on X appears to show Yu smoking a cigarette before shooting in the neck. The footage is widely shared, but at this point the authenticity of the video remains unconfirmed.
On the day of his death, Yu published a philosophical and technical manifesto introducing the concept of Legacions. This was coined to describe a new category of new categories rooted in permanence, legacy and iconic immortality.
Yu defined legacoin as follows:
“The evolution of digital assets, commonly referred to as memokines, is based on a voluntary commitment by developers… to ensure that these assets are acquired strictly and not sold or traded.”
At its core, the legacine framework proposes that developers do not build, accumulate, speculate, or sell. Holdings are trapped in the death of the owner, thereby creating an immutable floor for the price of the token.
“I’m a permanent floor,” Yu wrote.
Yu released the token Lljeffy on the same day. This is clearly the first legacoin.

Yu’s X account was subsequently deleted, but some in the community were skeptical. One user said Yu had previously said that a new Zerebro album would be released on May 30, suggesting that the incident could be part of a planned marketing stunt.
“Even if his X account is deleted, don’t forget that he said the new Zerebro album will be on May 30th. This fake suicide is part of the marketing. The Zerebro Pump is short and massive,” the post read.
However, on May 6, the obituary platform Legacy released a notice indicating that Jeffie Yu passed away on May 4, at the age of 22, and appears to have confirmed his death report.
Meanwhile, Zerebro Token has traded at around $0.04, up 85% over the past month, as it rides a wider wave of profits across the AI Crypto sector.
