XRP will be attacked by the drug sector.
WellGistics Health launches XRP program to revolutionize pharmacy payments
WellGistics Health Inc. (NASDAQ: WGRX) announced on August 13, 2025 that it will “announce the launch of an XRP implementation program powered by Ripple Labs, providing first-time access to independent pharmacies to blockchain-based payments in the prescription drug space.” The program is one of XRP’s first large healthcare deployments for prescription drug transactions, thus offering direct transfers near Intertonto, lower transaction costs, and no intermediaries. CEO Brian Norton noted that independent pharmacy owners understand the potential for blockchain transformation as it scales across the industry.
Initiatives supported by RXERP, a serialized drug e-commerce and enterprise resource planning platform, manage onboarding, transaction execution and compliance monitoring. WellGistics Health says:
WellGistics Health is one of the first healthcare companies to implement a large-scale XRP-based payment solution.
The speed and scalability of XRP ledgers are tailored to the demands of the pharmaceutical supply chain with a platform designed to help pharmacies improve liquidity, avoid bank delays, and securely track payments.
COO Tony Madsen emphasized that while the current phase focuses on streamlining payments to distributors, the long-term goal is a completely frictionless pharmacy payment ecosystem.
Regulatory safeguards are a central focus, and the company confirms:
The XRP payments program was developed to meet or exceed healthcare and financial regulatory standards, including HIPAA and Money Laundering (AML) requirements.
“The system provides secure and traceable transactions while protecting sensitive data and maintaining privacy at every stage,” the company added. Future expansions include launching direct programs to onboarding drug manufacturers and patients, enabling home delivery of medications under physician supervision. While some critics remain skeptical about the longevity of blockchain healthcare, supporters point to cryptocurrency-based settlement systems as a tool to reduce costs across the sector, improve transparency and enhance operational efficiency.
