Aplus, a credit card and financial services company under the SBI Shinsei Bank Group, has joined forces to add cryptocurrency as a new reward item that can be exchanged using APLUS points under SBI VC Trade, the cryptocurrency exchange division of Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings.
APLUS credit card holders will gain the ability to exchange XRP and Bitcoin and Ethereum accumulated APLUS points.
Points are accumulated based on the amount spent by users. Before cryptographic information is introduced, they may be redeemed for physical or digital goods, redeemed with cash, or transferred to other Partner Points programs.
Currently, card users can redeem 2,100 APLUS points worth 2,000 JPY, either XRP, BTC or ETH.
Given that SBI Group is a long-time partner of Ripple, the availability of XRP options is no surprise. In fact, the token was the only trading option available on SBI VC at its launch in 2018.
As reported by U.Today last February, SBI VC Trade added support for XRP lending.
Previously, SBI Holdings also launched an essential token (NFT) project in the XRP ledger (XRPL).
