On January 26th, the Geyser team announced a new project aimed at everyday payments with Bitcoin (BTC). This is WeSatoshis, a physical card that allows direct Bitcoin payments without going through intermediaries such as Visa or Mastercard or relying on mobile applications during operation.
As the team itself explained, the starting point is known limitations. Bitcoin effectively functions as a store of value. However, its use as a daily payment method remains complex.
In reality, most digital payments are made through phones, app stores, operating systems, and services over which users have no control.
They’re keeping that plan from the geyser, It creates friction and dependence at the moment of spending.
Cards intended for self-custodial payments
WeSatoshis comes as a self-contained physical card designed specifically for payments.
The device operates as part of your personal infrastructure. You can pay directly from self-storageThere is no need to delegate funds to a third party or require external applications at the point of sale.

It also offers atomic swaps between BTC and the wrapped token rSATS, conversion to USDT and USDC, sending values in Nostr (a decentralized messaging protocol), and optional privacy features.
According to Geyser, all of these options: They are only oriented towards the act of payment.not comprehensive money management.
Finally, Geyser’s team suggests that hardware wallets, the most secure mechanism for storing BTC, are not designed for everyday use. Mobile wallets, on the other hand, typically rely on external platforms.
In this framework, WeSatoshis is presented as a payments-oriented experiment without integrating into traditional rails or changing the self-custody model.
