According to Bitwise Cio Matt Hougan, Bitcoin (BTC) places itself for trillion dollar opportunities. The recent creation of strategic Bitcoin reserves and US digital asset stockpile has brought in new heights in institutional trust in Bitcoin. Hougan expects Bitcoin’s market capitalization to exceed $20 trillion in less than 10 years.
Considering that Bitcoin’s market capitalization in March 2025 is currently at $1.65 trillion, Hougan’s expectations are to increase by 1,212% by the latest 2035. This means that Bitcoin will cost over $1,000,000, and exceed gold. Currently, precious metals have a market capitalization of approximately $17 trillion.
From one point in time, Bitcoin is now a strategic US asset, with the government not only selling BTC, which is around 200,000, but also seeking opportunities to buy more.
Cryptocurrency never approached Gold 2.0, as Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Bitcoin is digital gold and a somewhat clear policy on BTC.
I’ll take the under.

However, precious metals have a history of over 2,000 years old, and Bitcoin was created just 15 years ago. Will another decade be enough for cryptocurrency to surpass gold? I don’t know that yet, but the mathematics behind such calculations are not so simple and not easy.
As one of the great code minds once said, the most interesting results are most possible. One thing is certain: the conversation about Bitcoin has shifted from speculative to serious. It’s no longer a question of whether it reaches a new high, but rather how it evolves.
