February 17, 2025 – Tether, the largest company in the digital asset industry, today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of the Republic of Guinea. This strategic collaboration aims to explore blockchain and peer-to-peer technology, the potential to drive economic growth, and the possibility of positioning the country as a leader in digital transformation in Africa.
The MOU highlights Tether’s commitment to globally supporting the adoption of blockchain, and is consistent with its mission to promote innovation, education and responsible use of digital assets. This initiative goes beyond traditional learning by building a strong foundation for sustainable success.
MOU aims to focus on education, innovation and sustainable technology practices while promoting the transfer of international knowledge and best practices to Guinea. They hope to establish the foundation for the adoption of national blockchain technology and create an environment that encourages innovation. A key element of this initiative is the potential for developing blockchain expertise and education in collaboration with the Cité des Sciences et de L’Innovation de Guinée (Guinea Innovation of Science and Innovation). The education programme will be implemented throughout Guinea’s public and private sectors to raise awareness, raise skills and develop local talent with digital technology.
Tether aims to support Guinea’s “Innovation City” project, an initiative designed to cement the country’s position to strengthen its position as a leader in digital economy by creating a dynamic space for technology, research and entrepreneurship. These efforts are consistent with the government’s broader goals of promoting economic growth and fostering technological innovation.
This MOU is based on Tether’s established track record of working with governments and agencies to promote the responsible adoption of blockchain technology. The forum demonstrates its commitment to globally advance blockchain adoption and education, including the Plan Forum held in Lugano, Switzerland. Other important initiatives include the promotion of digital asset education in Türkiye, the education initiative on Bitcoin and Stubcoin in the Ras Al Khaimah region, promoting innovation and growth for the development of Uzbekistan’s blockchain and peer-to-peer communications infrastructure.
