S&P Global has announced the launch of the S&P Digital Market 50 Index, a new index combining 35 companies and 15 cryptocurrencies to track the performance of the digital asset ecosystem.
Developed in collaboration with Dinari, a provider of US tokenized public securities, the index allows investors to access it not only through traditional methods, but also through a tokenized version.
The index aggregates the stocks of publicly traded companies related to the cryptocurrency sector. Use selected digital currencies from the S&P Cryptocurrency Broad Digital Market Indexprovides a measurement of the performance of both segments in a single metric.
Although it is not guaranteed, some of the assets that could be part of the Cryptocurrency Broad Digital Market Index are Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, and Cardano (ADA). Because these are the ones that exist in other S&P indexes.
Cameron Drinkwater, chief product and operations officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices, explained that cryptocurrencies have moved from being a “fringe asset” class to playing a more established role in global markets.
Drinkwater emphasized that independent indexes will bring transparency and accessibility to the digital asset ecosystem, similar to what is happening in traditional financial markets. He emphasized that the launch strengthens S&P Dow Jones Indices’ role as a provider of indicators in both traditional and alternative asset classes. Responding to the evolution of emerging markets such as virtual currencies.
Dinari, which helped design the index, plans to tokenize the S&P Digital Markets 50 through dShares. Dinari Business Director Anna Wroblewska pointed out that decentralized technology is used to tokenize the index. Consolidate both types of assets into a single transparent product.
Tokenization, as defined by CriptoNoticia Cryptopedia, is the creation of cryptographic tokens that represent tangible assets that exist outside the digital realm, such as works of art, real estate, raw materials, and goods. It also represents intangible assets such as bonds, patents, copyrights, credits, interests, and of course indexes.
