In the US, many other altcoin ETFs besides Bitcoin and Ethereum were launched in the last few months of 2025.
These include many important altcoins such as Solana (SOL), XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), and more ETFs are under review by the SEC.
While SEC proceedings continue, the SEC has postponed its decision regarding the T. Rowe Price and Canary Peng ETFs.
In response, the SEC announced on January 12 that it has extended the decision period for the T. Rowe Price Active Cryptocurrency ETF and the Canaries Pudsey Penguins (PENGU) Spot ETF pursuant to Step 19b-4 of the exchange rule change.
The SEC has announced that it will provide up to 45 additional days to review these ETFs.
T. Rowe Price Active Cryptocurrency ETFs are products that allow you to invest in a diverse basket of digital assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Experts say recent delays in ETF evaluations do not mean a final decision, but rather indicate that the SEC needs more time to evaluate products other than Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Separately, the SEC also announced that it has begun soliciting public comments on the options list for the Grayscale CoinDesk Crypto 5 ETF, which tracks Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano (ADA).
