- If Tangle Dao’s proposal is approved, approximately 42 million IOTA tokens, 700,000 USDT and other reserves will be transferred to the IOTA Infrastructure Fund.
- DAO dissolved and a temporary three-person committee led by Linus Naumann, led Yi-Wei Lin and Wiwi as co-leads, overseeing the fund’s management and liquidation for six to eight months.
The IOTA community is preparing for the next step in determining the future of Tangle Dao’s assets. The new proposal, “SGP-0012 – IOTA Network Fund Proposal,” successfully passed the second step, a Phase 2 vote at the Governance Forum, to carry out growth with IOTA infrastructure and Tangle Dao.
The IOTA community prepares for phase 2 votes on Tangle Dao
at this point suggestion The requirements have been passed and the Simmer Network has made a formal governance vote. Voting is available directly via the Shimmer Network, which began on August 20, 2025.
This process takes place in two phases. There will then be a seven-day pre-voting period, and token holders will have the opportunity to vote in advance. That phase will run from August 20th to 27th. The counting process will then begin at 15:00 on August 27th, with participants expected to hold the shimmer token in place and gain as much voting power as possible.
The vote will close at 15:00 CEST on September 3, 2025, with results indicating whether the plan will be implemented. Previously, the community voted Phase 1 via Firefly and via Shimmer Network, closing the vote at 12am CEST on Monday, August 18th. Forum members with Trust Level 1 or above have been eligible for votes. At the time of the vote, it was (71%) in favor, with a total of 151 voters voted (29%).
For context, Tangle Dao debuted in 2023 after a community decision, so-called build vs Burn votes, and began with 54 million IOTA. Since then, it has served as the Community Treasury Ministry of Finance, which has funded projects for the Tangletreasury Grant program.
The initiative funded 25 projects, about 680,000, but almost half of the “period budget” came out. The additional cost of overhead costs of 250,000 pointed out the difficulty of maintaining a wide-ranging grant system within a rather young ecosystem.
Advocates of the new plan believe that the role of the DAO needs to be transformed to meet the current requirements of the IOTA. In May 2025, Iota Rebased was launched, and its mainnet was based on MoveVM. In the defense of SGP-0012, supporters said that bridges, Oracles, exchange lists, management services and educational services are not well developed.
What’s next on the card?
If the proposal passes with a majority consensus, Tangle Dao will transfer the majority of its current holdings, roughly 42 million IOTA tokens, 700,000 USDT, along with other reserves, to the IOTA Infrastructure Fund. This will fund the integration of exchanges and storage services, developer tools, on-chain infrastructure, marketing campaigns and compliance services. Only $100,000 will be held under the closure fee.
Governance will also be reduced. A new three-person committee will take charge of the fund, and Linus Naumann will also be liquidated for the DAO with Linus Naumann, who has been appointed as the program lead, and Yi-Wei Lin and Wiwi will be liquidated as joint leads. Their authority is limited, non-permanent (6-8 months), with decisions made based on three majority.
