- Backed and Chainlink launch xBridge to enable cross-chain transfers of tokenized stocks between Ethereum and Solana.
- xBridge stores corporate activities such as dividends and stock splits, and enhances access and interoperability of tokenized stocks.
Backed, a leading provider of compliant tokenized stocks and ETFs, best known for its xStocks product line, has partnered with Chainlink to deploy xBridge, the first bridge that allows tokenized stocks to be moved between blockchains without losing fidelity to corporate actions such as dividends, stock splits, and other events.
Powered by Chainlink CCIP, xBridge allows users to transfer tokenized stocks between Ethereum and Solana, keeping xStocks fully backed and accurately reflecting traditional stock movements.
The bridge is currently undergoing trial operations, with full deployment expected in the coming weeks. The team plans to expand support to other blockchains soon.
“We have worked incredibly hard to bring tokenized equities to both Solana and Ethereum in the most secure way, and now we are finally able to connect these ecosystems,” Yotam Katznelson, CTO and COO of Backed Finance, said in a statement.
The new bridge completes the loop by allowing tokenized stocks to flow between networks while keeping the characteristics of traditional stocks intact, Katznelson said.
“This integration will allow xStocks to move seamlessly across multiple chains with the highest levels of security, reliability and compliance, allowing access to tokenized stocks in a globally connected financial system,” said Johan Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs.
In Solana, as Backed pointed out, xStocks leverages the Token2022 standard with a multiplier-based “equity model” and automatic rebase with predefined activation times.
In Ethereum, a custom rebase architecture internally tracks shares and scales visible balances through an updatable multiplier.
“This is a major step towards an integrated cross-chain marketplace where real-world assets can be traded at scale, backed by institutional-grade security,” Eid said.
