Monthly inflows to digital asset treasury (DAT) companies slowed to about $555 million, according to data from DeFiLlama, the lowest level since October 2024, the month before the 2024 US election surge.
According to data from DeFiLlama, inflows into digital asset treasury firms dipped to around $32.4 million before the election, but rebounded to more than $12.3 billion following the 2024 US election results and crypto-promoting regulatory changes.
Treasury inflows contracted in 2025, with monthly inflows well below $10 billion until August 2025, but then declined sharply again.

Digital asset treasury companies have faced a tough business environment over the past year, made worse by October’s crypto market crash that began a months-long bear market that sent crypto prices down to pre-election levels.

Finance companies face reinvention in the wake of market crash
Patrick Gunn, chief investment officer at technology company Zeta Network Group, said financial companies need to evolve their business strategies or risk stagnation.
“Corporate Bitcoin treasuries need to demonstrate that they can actually use the asset and not just store it,” Ngan said.
He said crypto treasury companies with operational businesses that generate cash flow will outperform companies that simply accumulate and hold cryptocurrencies.

Finance companies can generate revenue by providing staking and validation services to secure proof-of-stake blockchain networks, mining proof-of-work cryptocurrencies, lending in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space, and other unrelated businesses.
Last year, real estate investor Grant Cardone expanded his multifamily fund strategy by combining real estate and Bitcoin ($BTC) into a hybrid digital asset financial investment vehicle.
The fund benefits from appreciation in the value of physical assets, property tax benefits, and rental income that can be funneled into additional funds. $BTC Cardon told Cointelegraph.
“Why would I invest in a company if it’s just Bitcoin? Real estate is the best financial company you can build because you have to buy a home, not a discretionary commodity,” he said.
