In a recent tweet, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong highlighted the next frontier for cryptocurrencies: capital formation and fundraising.
Coinbase’s CEO suggested that the next big impact of cryptocurrencies will be changing the way startups raise money. Armstrong suggested that blockchain technology has the potential to significantly reduce the friction associated with fundraising and capital formation.
“Cryptocurrencies will be next to break down the barriers around funding and capital formation,” Armstrong said in a post about X.

This has potential implications for startups, given that funding is one of the most difficult aspects of launching a startup. It can take months for managers to meet with investors, prepare proposals, and navigate the legal and financial formalities. While these may sound simple in themselves, they can be costly, especially for business owners with limited resources.
Armstrong believes that reducing the friction around funding will increase the number of startups around the world, increase innovation and, in turn, accelerate progress. Coinbase’s CEO highlighted a common perception among entrepreneurs about how time-consuming (and expensive) raising capital can be.
Coinbase positions itself in this drive, serving thousands of financial institutions. The crypto asset recently revealed that it stores about 12% of all crypto assets in the world and the majority of the US Spot Crypto ETF.
Futures contracts now available on Coinbase in Europe
In a recent development, leading cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced that European traders can now access futures contracts on its platform for the first time. These fully regulated contracts will initially be available through Coinbase Advanced in 26 European countries, including Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
Coinbase offers two main types of cash-settled futures contracts: perpetual-style futures contracts and dated contracts, each with different settlement procedures.
The exchange shared key transaction details in an official blog post. Futures contracts are leveraged and offer low trading fees. Traders can take advantage of up to 10x leverage on some contracts (BTC, ETH, stock indices, etc.) and up to 4x-5x leverage on other products.
