The Bitcoin white paper turned 17 on Friday. On October 31, 17 years ago, Satoshi Nakamoto published his 2008 Bitcoin white paper to a crypto mailing list.
This milestone was celebrated across the crypto community, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also joining in on the moment.
In a tweet, Bessent praised Bitcoin’s resilience and also highlighted the 17th anniversary of the publication of the Bitcoin White Paper, saying, “17 years after the white paper, the Bitcoin network is still up and more resilient than ever. Bitcoin will never shut down.”
The Treasury Secretary’s tweet caught the attention of top crypto figures, including Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, who described it as something quite magical.

Cardano news
In recent news, the cbADA borrowing market is now live on Base. CbADA is Coinbase’s wrapped version of Cardano (ADA) on Base and is backed 1:1 by real ADA. Recent developments are expected to further expand the possibilities of cross-chain DeFi.
In big news for Cardano, Input Output has revealed Ouroboros Phalanx. This is a new upgrade that makes network attacks more difficult and more expensive while enabling up to 30% faster transactions.
Ouroboros Phalanx raises the security bar for Cardano with strong protection against stake-based attacks, ensuring faster transactions and stronger network integrity.
At the time of writing, ADA was trading at $0.61, down 24.55% from its October close.
