The Camino Network Foundation is working with Lufthansa Systems, and Swiss International Air Lines is working together to develop innovative blockchain solutions for the travel industry.
The Camino Network Foundation, aviation industry information technology provider Lufthansa Systems and Switzerland’s domestic airlines supported this goal with Frankfurt’s Web3-centric hackathon.
According to an announcement shared with Crypto.News, the event brought together experts to leverage blockchain and artificial intelligence to develop solutions aimed at the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and sustainability of the travel industry.
A team of 13 different travel and tech companies worked 48 hours on a practical, ready-to-use solution. Hackathon participants explored how to utilize the Camino network blockchain for distribution of flight and travel products.

Experts on topics, including payment methods, carbon offsetting and access to emerging sales markets, worked together.
“The Hackathon clearly demonstrated how a connection that once took several months can be established within days. Compared to traditional distribution channels, the new solution is significantly more efficient, with cost savings of up to 98%, as demonstrated by HotelPlan, and improved sustainability up to 50%, as measured by Carbify’s Co-Association analysis.
Among the major presentations was a solution by the Unimoni team, featuring a solution aimed at integrating 300,000 India-based travel agents into the Camino network.
Meanwhile, the Swiss and digital hangar teams featured Web3 travel identity solutions, including wallet integration and issuance of real-world assets such as vouchers and digital services.
“It was particularly impressive to see how the team integrated LHG flight content into the platform in just two days, beyond the many innovative use cases developed during hackathons. The commercial potential of this technology will significantly reduce partner integration and distribution costs, especially faster, more efficient.
The next step after the hackathon is that the Lufthansa Group evaluates which hackathon projects can enter the pilot application.
