The Ethereum Applications Guild (EAG) was created on October 2, 2025 by Chairman Xiao Feng of Hashkey Group and co-founder Vitalik Buterin of Ethereum. This project will take developers, researchers, institutions and teams into the Ethereum ecosystem. Its main purpose is to quickly track creation and deployment. Specifically, applications of native Ethereum applications by creating open, transparent and sustainable collaboration frameworks. EAG is not an open initiative, like the foundations and the accelerators. Instead, an incubation hub based on the 2023 Shanhaiwu project by Xiao Feng. The project is in the early stages of consensus and welcomes international cooperation from the ETH Ministry of Finance, Layer2 Group, developer community, protocol organizations and research institutions.
Goals and strategic implications
EAG will refocus on Ethereum on more end-user-centric development. Rather than infrastructure-centric development, it aims to accelerate adoption in industries such as Defi, NFTS, DAOS, gaming, and more. The program also invites global participants to some of them, and the resulting governance framework is decentralized. Protect the spirit of community autonomy at Ethereum.
Ethereium Ecosystem
By October 2025, Ethereum’s market valuation was approximately 500 billion, resulting in native tokens trading for around $4,180. In fact, Ethereum defi is worth locked in the 50-60 billion range, with an average daily transaction of 1.2 million. Solutions that are Layer 2, such as the Hashkey Chain, are better at improving the usability and scalability of DAPP, providing a more ideal environment where EAG can apply an application-centric approach.
Hashkey Group Chairman Xiao Feng is the leader of Shanhaiwu, and has a huge web3 experience and has a high level of influence in the region. As co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin is the force behind the move to proofing networks and promoting the use of distributed applications around the world. The combination of these gives the vision and technical direction EAG needs to succeed. On October 2, 2025, EAG is still in its first consensus phase, establishing a form of community and governance. This project should be able to compete with other blockchain environments. This can affect developer participation and recruitment.
