A group of developers who manage Bitcoin Core, the world’s most popular full-node software, have been defeated by Op_return War in 2025, and have continued to assert their views that the dissidents are the unbelievers following the leaders of Hillbilly.
Their latest jeers include the new opposition nickname “Knotzis”, leading to a minor knotted software bug.
They continue to immerse themselves in their victory despite the increasing displacement of actual software dominance across the Bitcoin network. In fact, Knot users protesting the change in core OP_return has grown ten times this year, reaching nearly 400 to nearly 4,000 internet connectivity nodes.
In contrast, the Reachable Core node operator is not increasing and is not hovering around 20,000 in the same period.
Simply put, Op_return War is the most uncontroversial discrepancy between Bitcoin developers of the year. Core Devs wants to facilitate the memory storage functionality of the OP_Return script code for data that is unrelated to Bitcoin (BTC) on-chain movement.
In contrast, Knots developers want to maintain a strict filter for this data and remove what they consider to be “spam” that runs the node operator’s computer memory.
As the two camps become increasingly emotional and rooted in beliefs, much of the discussion called names and decomposed them into advertising attacks.
Bitcoin core developers laugh at the knot of the dissident
Social media has endless examples of verbal sparring.
OP_Return War leader Antoine Poinsot accused one of the critics of giving the echo chamber “what they want to hear.” He was called the knot user and branded “FILTEROORS.”Bitcoin’s brain knot. ”
Bitcoin Core Dev Peter Todd, who collaborated with Poinsot in a pull request for a change in Pro-Data Storage Op_return, claimed that the node achieves “nothing”.
He also laughed at the Knot Node operator to fall into “advertising scams” by Knot’s leader Luke Dashul.
ChainCode Labs developer Sergi Delgado proposed a knot fork that he called Bitcoin Unknotted.
Delgado also occasionally responded to mention Jesus-themed memes and Luke Daschul, making fun of Daschul’s Sedevacantian beliefs.
At the Notts
This month, some core influencers began calling them the not influencer “Nozzis.”
They also found minor software bugs that could affect future knot users if the patch is not applied.
Another core fan, Wicked, laughing at “Shams of Notis,” posted a chart claiming that the Knot Filter could not prevent spam data.
ChainCode Dev Carla Kirk-Cohen has been stoked by the Op_return drama while announcing the update. We were built while y’all was fighting. ”
Despise Chaincode Lab
Many knot users have denounced ChainCode Labs workers for leading the OP_Return data storage initiative.
ChainCode is a corporate and educational resource for technical bitcoin workers. It serves as a cultural hub and shorthand for the New York-based community of Bitcoin developers, as well as a community to attend events such as Bitdevas NYC and colleagues under Alex Morkos and Suhasdahtar.

Marcos and Daftuar chaincodes have been training Bitcoin developers since 2014. The co-founder is independent and wealthy as Quant Traders, who co-founded the profitable Hudson River Trading Company in 2002.
For context, when they co-founded Chaincode Lab in 2014, their Hudson River deal was He is responsible for 5% of all US stock transactions.
Their wealth and well-funded programs in the chaincode make it easy to target criticism of the company’s impact on Bitcoin development.
