Qiao Changpeng (CZ), founder of Binance and one of the most influential figures in the crypto world, said that the tokenized securities platform announced by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is very bullish for the crypto sector and crypto exchanges.
“This development is bullish for cryptocurrencies and crypto exchanges,” CZ said in his review.
The NYSE’s newly announced platform aims to create an entirely new trading environment, rather than simply adding blockchain to existing exchanges. This new structure offers features such as 24/7 uninterrupted trading, instant settlement (instead of T+1), stablecoin-based funding instead of bank transfers, and direct issuance of securities as digital assets. In other words, this system is not a digitized version of traditional infrastructure, but an entirely new marketplace designed from the ground up on the blockchain.
The move effectively leaves the NYSE operating two exchanges in parallel. Existing traditional exchanges will continue to operate with limited trading hours, delayed payments, and banking infrastructure, while the new platform will feature instant payments and stablecoin payment rails and operate 24/7. Therefore, rather than choosing between traditional and digital finance, the NYSE has chosen to run both models simultaneously.
Other big players in this space are generally focused on tokenizing existing assets. DTCC is progressing with the tokenization of stored securities, State Street is working on money market funds and ETFs, and Nasdaq is developing regulations to run tokenized transactions alongside traditional systems. However, the NYSE differs from these approaches with plans to establish both on-chain outstanding shares and a next-generation trading platform on which they will be traded. This puts the NYSE in direct competition with projects such as Figure’s OPEN platform and Superstate.
Tokenized stocks open the door to a new financial order where consensus occurs on-chain, storage is held in wallets rather than DTCC, transactions never stop, and capital creation occurs via stablecoins.
