The new proposal suggests the construction of Ronin L2 as an arbitrum orbit chain as the Ronin team plans to move its gaming chain to Layer 2 along full-fledged Ethereum by 2026.
summary
- The suggestion to build a Ronin L2 with Arbitrum is live.
- This move comes as Ronin, launched as a Layer 1 blockchain by Sky Mavis, is now returning to Ethereum as a full-fledged L2 chain.
- Ron will strengthen the new chain’s ecosystem as a gas fee token.
According to the proposal, Arbitrum (ARB) is uniquely located to support Ronin, as it appears that L2 will return to Ethereum (ETH). As Arbitrum boasts a dedicated Web 3 Gaming Venture Arm, the proposal to build Ronin as an L2 in the orbital chain means that arbitrum will become more than a technical partner.
The Ronin L2 in the Arbitrum Orbit chain is powered by Ron and supported by Arbitrum Gaming Ventures.
Why on the arbitrator’s trajectory?
With this initiative, Ronin will benefit from Ron’s native support as gas tokens, transaction speeds, customizability, autonomy, and validator optimized fee revenue.
In particular, Arbitrum Orbit is the only L2 stack on Ethereum that natively supports all four ecosystem features that are not hacked, workarounds or disassembled upgradeable.
Today we officially proposed to the Ronin Validator community that @Ronin_Network would build with @Arbitrum.

What this means is that Ronin users have the opportunity to take advantage of Arbitrum’s L2 benefits of instant transactions and gaming community support. In this case, L2 will also accelerate adoption of Ronin’s Web3 games. This could potentially increase integration across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Also set for profit is the native Ronin Token Ron used throughout the L2 network.

Ronin prior to the transition to Ethereum
Ronin was launched as the Layer-1 blockchain in 2021 and developed by Sky Mavis, and attempted to address the scalability challenges of Axie Infinity (AXS). The blockchain was published under the Proof Auto consensus model before moving to the proof of stake, which was delegated to 2023.
Ronin is back at Ethereum.
Ready Layer 2⚔️
Four years ago, Axie Infinity needed a faster, more efficient network, so I built Ronin. Ethereum was early in the scaling roadmap. Necessity was the mother of our invention.

EVM Compatible Chain supports a variety of tools designed to assist game developers and integrates ecosystem solutions such as ChainLink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol for security and cross-chain token transfer. Ronin also supports cross-chain inappropriate tokens and decentralized finance applications.
Recent network developments include the launch of Open Ronin via Project Leviosa. This is a move that helped push blockchain beyond the game-centric model to a platform that supports smart contracts for Defi, infrastructure, and consumer applications.
The transition to L2 at Ethereum is part of its mission to become “Ethereum’s gamification engine,” the Ronin team recently said.
