Tron’s “gasless” stablecoin transfers will double in 2026, supporting a major shift that could position it as one of the top payment layers for payment applications.
“Gasless” according to CryptoQuant’s report $USDT Remittances in 2026 will reach a record high of $3 billion, up from a low of about $1.5 billion in January. In fact, gasless transfer volume has increased from zero in early 2025 to an all-time high by mid-2025, confirming its strong adoption.

Problems with traditional stablecoin payments
Traditionally, transferring funds between blockchains required holding gas tokens on-chain to pay for bandwidth and energy usage. For Solana, it’s SOL, and for Tron, it’s TRX.
In other words, without Gas Tokens, the chain cannot be utilized regardless of the amount of Gas Tokens. $USDTUSDC, or stablecoin balances on-chain.
This has become a key friction point for payments that leverage the speed and touted cost efficiency of stablecoin transfers. In fact, this has led players like Stripe’s Tempo, Circle’s Arc, and the upcoming Google Chain to drop their gas tokens.
Will GasFree propel Tron beyond P2P stablecoin transfers?
To combat the competition, Tron announced the GasFree project, which abstracts network fees by deducting a small fee from each transfer. This is similar to traditional payments, where the operator receives a percentage of the amount transferred.
This model appears to be widely accepted and adopted. Specifically, GasFree’s unique user count reached a record 30,000, and transaction numbers soared to a peak of 196,000. CryptoQuant added,
GasFree transactions and active users reached record highs, confirming a structural upward trend.

In light of the growing trend towards gas-free $USDT Considering volume and adoption, CryptoQuant concluded that Tron is moving to the application layer, similar to Stripe’s Tempo.
GasFree volumes are now well above their 2025 peak. This shows that the payment abstraction is not a niche convenience, but a core enabler of application activity on Tron that can drive projects forward. $USDT– Large users only.
In fact, some payment integrators like Rhino.fi are already using Tron. $USDT The balance is out of whack, further accentuating this change.
Additionally, gasless transfers are reportedly stable, with a median fee of about $1.50 for a $16,000 transfer. This was a positive update to another friction point in traditional gas-based transfers. Fees can spike during peak blockchain demand.
It remains to be seen whether other players such as Solana and Polygon will adopt the same with rival players like Stripe eyeing market share. That said, Tron’s control over stablecoin circulation has declined from 43% in 2024 to 20% as of mid-2026.

- The move comes as Tron’s market share in stablecoin circulation has declined from 43% to 20% from 2024 onwards.
