Charles Hoskinson reaffirmed his commitment to taking Cardano to its next stage of growth.
His comments come amid mounting criticism from parts of the community, with some critics urging him to resign following a series of setbacks in the ecosystem, including project shutdowns and governance disputes.
In a commentary, Hoskinson dismissed those calls, insisting that millions of community members still look to him for guidance and leadership. According to him, these supporters represent the “silent overwhelming majority” of the Cardano ecosystem.
He said the majority includes users, developers and stakeholders, who he believes can contribute to problem solving, provide direction and guide the network through difficult times.
“I’m the guy who’s been here since day one.” Hoskinson said, adding that this long-term involvement is the main reason he continues to lead Cardano.
Strengthening governance emerges as Cardano’s next priority
Meanwhile, Hoskinson cited governance reform as Cardano’s most important goal going forward. In his view, the ecosystem has reached a point where stronger governance structures are essential for long-term sustainability and growth.
As the author of the Protocol and one of the key people behind its launch, community expansion, and fundraising efforts, Hoskinson believes he has both the experience and responsibility to drive these reforms.
His call for improved governance follows weeks of controversy over financial allocation and strategic priorities within the ecosystem. Several governance disagreements highlighted growing tensions within Cardano’s decentralized decision-making system.
For example, some DRep, including some Igon executives, opposed key proposals supported by IOG. Additionally, the community failed to approve funding for the 2026 Cardano Summit, further revealing disagreements over spending priorities.
reform plan
In response, Hoskinson proposed several changes aimed at improving coordination and accountability across the ecosystem. This includes a proposal to move governance-related discussions in the Cardano community from X to a moderated Discord environment. However, critics argue that such a move could conflict with Cardano’s decentralization principles by introducing greater moderation to community discussions.
Mr Hoskinson also indicated he could become a DRep himself to vote directly on funding proposals. He described the potential move as an accountability mechanism rather than an attempt to consolidate power.
Additionally, he advocated for a revised Cardano constitution featuring clearer executive responsibilities, an elected authority structure, and measurable growth goals.
Unity determines Cardano’s future
Despite the ongoing conflict, Hoskinson believes governance reform is the next logical step in Cardano’s evolution, especially as the network continues to move towards further decentralization and community participation.
He also emphasized the importance of unity across the ecosystem, warning that internal divisions could undermine Cardano’s ambitions and slow progress at critical stages of development.
