The Ethereum Foundation has shared the key technical goals of the “gramsterdam” upgrade that will shape the future of the Ethereum network.
According to the Soldøgn Interop Recap summary published by the foundation, the event held in late April 2026 brought together more than 100 core developers and took significant steps to improve the network’s scalability and performance.
The most notable goal set within the scope of this event was to increase the minimum gas capacity to 200 million after the renovation of Gramsterdam. This increase is intended to significantly expand transaction capacity on the Ethereum network and lay an important foundation for higher throughput.

The conference also made progress on two important technical aspects of network architecture. The first is to make the ePBS (external Proposer-Builder Separation) architecture that supports external block producers work stably with multiple clients. The second topic highlighted was work on EIP-8037 gas repricing parameters, which aims to better balance transaction costs.
Additionally, developers have made significant progress in optimizing block access lists and various EIP decisions under Gramsterdam. At the same time, the infrastructure is being prepared for innovative features planned for future implementation, such as FOCIL (Hegotá) and native account abstraction.
By conducting intensive coding efforts, stress tests, and technical sessions throughout the event, the team was able to establish a stable development net. Additionally, a number of critical issues causing incompatibilities between different clients have been resolved. During this process, network condition growth was controlled while execution efficiency was optimized.
