MicroCloud Hologram Inc., a developer of technology services and quantum computing, announced plans to invest $400 million in research to harden the Bitcoin protocol against future quantum attacks. The company plans to work with academic partners and open source contributors to engineer a transition to post-quantum cryptography without disrupting current networks.
This project focuses on a hybrid cryptographic model that combines existing ECDSA signatures with quantum-resistant algorithms. This double-signature approach is intended to provide additional security while allowing for gradual deployment. MicroCloud Hologram Inc. tests multiple methods, including lattice-based and hash-based signatures, and selects options based on performance and scalability.
MicroCloud Hologram Inc. develops hardware acceleration solutions that increase verification speed and reduce computational costs. The roadmap includes testing on a dedicated network followed by gradual integration into the main Bitcoin ecosystem.
