Timber Cladding Specialists, a construction materials supplier, has introduced a blockchain-based traceability system for timber cladding used in construction projects. The solution is designed to improve transparency across the procurement and delivery stages.
Key data includes harvest location, certification details, processing stage, and transportation route. Information is stored on a distributed ledger and accessible to project stakeholders.
The blockchain layer is intended to enhance documentation and auditing processes. It may also support compliance with green building standards and reporting regulations.
The company says the system has been applied to some products containing heat-modified wood. Expansion to other materials is also planned as part of the digital development strategy.
