World launched MiniKit 2.0 with World Chain, introducing a standardized framework that allows developers to build applications once and deploy them to both web environments and World Apps with minimal changes.
This upgrade is compliant with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard, simplifying cross-platform development and reducing integration complexity.
This release comes amid increasing adoption of mini apps across the ecosystem. In the past seven days, Mini Apps had over 12.1 million opens and over 2.2 billion total uses. This reflects the growing engagement with consumer applications built on top of World.
MiniKit 2.0 allows you to transform your existing applications into mini apps with minimal code adjustments, sometimes as little as two lines. Applications deployed within a World App now mirror their corresponding web applications, allowing developers to extend them without rewriting their core logic while simplifying testing, distribution, and iteration.
This upgrade also expands local payment capabilities through additional stablecoins including wARS, wCOP, wMXN, wBRL, wPEN, wCLP, and EURC. This positions World Chain as the primary infrastructure layer for localized stablecoin payments, eliminating the need for developers to manage region-specific payment systems.
Flashblock integration improves performance, reducing transaction confirmation time from ~2 seconds to approximately 200 milliseconds. The changes are designed to support real-time applications such as trading interfaces, games, and interactive consumer experiences.
World also introduced gas sponsorship via Privy, which leverages ZeroDev’s account abstraction infrastructure. This allows developers to cover transaction fees for users, eliminating the need for wallet balances and manual fee processing, improving new user onboarding.
In parallel with the upgrade, World has launched World Build 3, a developer program to support projects building on World Chain, and applications for human infrastructure certification. Previous participants have raised more than $15 million from venture capital firms while deploying applications used by millions of authenticated users.
The new group will begin with a four-day hackathon with $20,000 in prizes, followed by a build week in Seoul, a three-month virtual program, and a demo day in San Francisco. World will also be exhibiting MiniKit 2.0 at EthCC from March 30th to April 2nd.
