There have been new developments in diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran. Iran’s response to the 15-point peace framework proposed by President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly expected today.
Sources said Iran’s counteroffer would be communicated through intermediary countries, but no official response had been received as of press time.
White House officials expressed cautious optimism about the talks, noting growing signs of progress. Steve Witkoff, the US special envoy for the Middle East, announced that a 15-point plan had been passed on to Iran via Pakistan. Regional sources added that Pakistan had direct contact with Iran’s foreign ministry as well as Iranian security agencies.
Those negotiating on the U.S. side include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President J.D. Vance, and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Rubio said messages continued to be exchanged through “intermediary countries” and that “concrete progress” had been made. He also saw the increased flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz as a positive sign.

In a statement, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt emphasized the sensitivity of the negotiations, adding that the United States does not intend to conduct negotiations through the media. The statement also noted that military operations continue while diplomatic contacts take place.
However, the Iranian side declined to publicly comment on the process. Iran’s representative to the United Nations said he would not comment on active diplomacy. Meanwhile, President Trump claimed that Iran had “agreed” not to develop nuclear weapons, but Tehran reiterated that it has no nuclear ambitions.
Diplomatic activities in this region are also becoming more active. Several countries, including Türkiye, have reportedly contacted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to begin negotiations. Additionally, International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi is said to be in contact with both the US and Iranian sides.
