- Arbitrum has added support for ERC-8004, the Ethereum standard that makes autonomous agents verifiable and trustworthy on-chain.
- The network says builders that combine the new standard with its reliable, neutral platform and deep liquidity can rapidly grow the agency economy.
Arbitrum has become the latest blockchain in the Ethereum ecosystem to support ERC-8004, Ethereum’s proposed universal trust layer standard for autonomous AI agents.
Enable ERC-8004 option
The project announced Thursday that ERC-8004 will be enabled on its network, providing on-chain identity, verifiable reputation, and cross-platform detection for AI agents. “Combined with Arbitrum’s deep liquidity and trusted, neutral platform, builders can ship trustless AI agents and grow the open agent economy.”

This is the latest effort in the blockchain space to target artificial intelligence, as the two technologies become increasingly intertwined.
A16Z Crypto, the digital asset arm of leading Silicon Valley VC firm a16z, points out in a new blog this week that AI has never needed crypto more than it does now. By allowing AI to generate text, video, and images that are difficult to distinguish from human-generated output, cryptocurrencies increase the cost of impersonation and support decentralized identity verification systems. It also enables machine-scale payments, supporting an agency economy that can change the way information and value is exchanged around the world, A16Z Crypto added.
Most blockchain networks have made AI integration a priority for 2026. As we reported, Sui added support for AI agents, while lead ambassador Shiba Inu is working on AI projects beyond cryptocurrencies. Theta Network’s 2026 roadmap centers around decentralized AI, and ICP wants to make decentralized cloud solutions the ultimate destination for AI projects.
ERC-8004 – Trustless AI Agent on Ethereum
As we first reported last August, the Ethereum Foundation established a new AI team and began work on ERC-8004. Last month, the Foundation announced that new standards would be introduced to the mainnet.
ERC-8004 allows AI agents to discover and interact with each other on-chain without having to establish trust. Existing solutions on the market, such as Google’s agent-to-agent protocols, require pre-established trust for agents to interact, limiting growth.
The new standard addresses a rapidly growing market. According to Gartner research, at least 25% of the world’s major conglomerates will have dedicated AI talent working autonomously by 2028. This agent commerce will reach trillions of dollars worldwide and will soon surpass walled gardens like Google’s A2A protocol.
ERC-8004 gives Ethereum a huge advantage in the AI economy. The network is already the largest in the cryptocurrency space and has support on Wall Street. As we reported, 30 top global organizations are already building on the network, committing billions of dollars.
ETH will be traded at $1,900 Continuous slipping and falling when pressing 30% The past week as the market continues to bleed.
