The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has launched the first state-issued stablecoin in the United States, FRNT, on the Solana Network. According to Wednesday’s X thread on the commission’s official account, Frontier Stable Tokens are now available for public purchase through Wyoming-based cryptocurrency exchange Kraken.
The stablecoin, formerly known as WYST, is Debut in August 2025. FRNT is designed for use by both individuals and institutions. It is fully backed by U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasuries, which return interest income to the country. The Wyoming Stable Token Board also announced that cross-chain bridging to Arbitrum, Avalanche, Coinbase, Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon blockchains is now available via Stargate Finance.
“Wyoming is our nation’s innovation leader, from our core energy, agriculture and tourism industries to education and more,” Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon said in a statement. “Today, our adoption of digital assets further demonstrates the strength of our enterprise and provides citizens, businesses and the nation with a cheaper, faster and more transparent means of transaction. Importantly, FRNT can provide another source of funding for schools and reduce the burden on state taxpayers.”
Wyoming Stable Token Committee will continue to support FRNT in 2026
Furthermore, the Wyoming State Commission has stated that it will continue to expand the FRNT stablecoin in 2026. “This includes bringing in new partners for resale of FRNT, deploying FRNT within state government agencies to make operations cheaper and more efficient, and partnering with other public entities considering doing the same,” the commission added in a press release.
The dollar stablecoin is designed to track the value of the US dollar on a 1:1 basis. The asset was in the news in the US last year. More states are interested in issuing their own USD-pegged stablecoins, especially with new regulations for digital assets in the US.
