Binance Blockchain Week, a two-day event scheduled for December 3rd to 4th, has kicked off in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The event will feature industry heavyweights, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who will shed light on key developments and future directions for the crypto market.
Ripple’s CEO joined Solana Foundation Chairman Lily Liu and Binance CEO Richard Teng in a panel discussion on the theme of “The Way Forward.”
Garlinghouse expressed excitement about the event a few days ago, tweeting that “moving forward is the only path worth considering.”
Moving on to the event, Ripple’s CEO shared his insights on stablecoins, a sector in which the company is actively participating. Launched in December 2024, the Ripple USD stablecoin (RLUSD) continues to gain momentum with a market value of $1.027 billion.
Garlinghouse highlighted that stablecoins are gaining recognition, saying, “Especially in this region, people are starting to realize that stablecoins are really stable and much easier to manage and move around.” The region Ripple’s CEO is likely referring to is the Middle East, where the Binance event will be held.

The Ripple CEO’s comments came after RLUSD took steps towards a major milestone in the UAE. RLUSD is recognized by the Abu Dhabi Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) and other regulatory authorities in the region.
The XRP community will be looking forward to a session at Binance Blockchain Week where Reese Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, will discuss “The Next Era of Payment Rails.” His presentation will detail how blockchain-powered payments networks are modernizing global payments, speed, and financial connectivity.
RLUSD stablecoin increases awareness
The Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin has been recognized as a fiat reference token by the Abu Dhabi Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) and allowed for use within ADGM, the international financial center of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In addition to FSRA approval, RLUSD also recently received approvals from other regulatory agencies in the region.
At the Swell event held in November, Ripple announced a partnership with Mastercard, WebBank, and Gemini to explore the use of Ripple USD (RLUSD) on XRPL to support stablecoin payments for fiat card transactions.
