- Telegram CEO announced Cocoon Network, a decentralized platform that integrates AI and TON blockchain.
- The Cocoon network strengthens Telegram’s reach in blockchain-based services within the app ecosystem.
At Blockchain Life 2025, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced Cocoon, short for Confidential Compute Open Network, a decentralized infrastructure initiative that combines blockchain, AI, and social media.
Durov said Cocoon will allow GPU owners to contribute computing power to the network and earn TON tokens in return, giving developers access to low-cost AI computing. The system is designed to ensure that users can operate AI features such as summarization and message composition without exposing personal data to a centralized provider.
Telegram itself will become the network’s first major customer and biggest promoter, integrating Cocoon’s functionality into its ecosystem of mini-apps and bots. The project is scheduled to launch in November 2025, with applications open to both hardware providers and developers.
Durov emphasized that Cocoon’s transparent, market-driven design makes AI computing pricing competitive and censorship-proof. He envisioned the initiative as part of Telegram’s broader mission to protect user privacy and digital freedom as global technology becomes increasingly centralized.
