In response to China’s announcement that it would introduce comprehensive export controls starting November 1, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced on the same day that the US would take countermeasures.
In a statement published in Truth Social, President Trump said China plans to impose export restrictions on “nearly every product we make, and some products we don’t make,” calling the decision “an unprecedented step in international trade and a moral scandal.”
“In response to this action, the United States will impose 100% tariffs on all products from China starting November 1, 2025, on top of existing tariffs. New export controls on critical software will also go into effect on the same day,” President Trump said.
President Trump also concluded his statement by saying, “I can’t believe China would take such a step, but they did it and history has now been made.”
