Flare, a full-stack layer 1 (L1) solution, is working with Easea and XRPL Commons to host a 36-hour hackathon at Harvard University from September 20-21, 2025, following the latest information shared with Finbold on Thursday, September 3rd.
The event will gather 200 developers and focus on Flare’s interoperability protocols and how XRP Leisure (XRPL) can drive the next wave of distributed finance (DEFI).
With the $35,000 prize pool stagnates, participants will win hands-on cross-chain development experiences with cross-chain finance and real-world assets, configurable distributed applications (DAPPs) and interoperable infrastructure, and consumer-centric apps.
Additionally, flare engineers are familiar with technology where participants are able to facet flares, programmable fluidity, smart accounts, distributed Oracles, and XRPL controlled accounts.
Promotion of Web3 Education
XRPL has long been recognized for its robust support for speed, fluidity and tokenization, but flares provide secure interoperability and distributed data capabilities.
The two platforms aim to introduce new advancements in areas such as event-driven yield products and tokenized real-world assets (RWAS).
“XRPL stands out for its speed, liquidity and its enterprise-grade infrastructure. The integration of flares brings true complexity and expands the foundation into a full-fledged defi ecosystem.”
The initiative is based on Flare’s ongoing partnership with Eighta, a Web3 education platform powered by developers through the #60DaysOfflare campaign.
Therefore, Maxlack, Flare’s growth director, explained that the hackathon is creating a “direct loop between XRPL and the flare infrastructure.”
