Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, which took over the post from the legendary CZ in November 2023, has issued an important statement on Binance.
He also shares some of his previous successful experiences in building regulatory compliance in the crypto space.
Key Statement from Binance CEO
Richard Teng announced that Binance is currently the most regulated exchange in the world, and that he is working with authorities from various countries and different horns of the Earth.
Among those countries are the United Arab Emirates and France, where Binance was recently granted a regulatory license. Previously, Binance was banned from several European countries, including Italy, Germany and Singapore. Eventually, its founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) resigned from his primary position and was forced to spend four months in a federal prison in the United States after pleading guilty to violating local anti-money laundering laws. What’s more, Binance had to pay a $4.3 billion fine.
Before @Binance I helped build one of the first cryptographic regulation frameworks.
Today we are the most regulated exchange in the world.

After Richard Teng was promoted to CEO position in place of CZ, Binance took a course in regulatory compliance in all jurisdictions in which it existed.
Teng comes from a vast regulatory background, including roles at the top financial authorities in Singapore and Abu Dhabi.
